Restoration and Re-recording Services

Belfer provides re-recording services for Syracuse University faculty, staff and students who need archive materials for classroom use, research or special programs. Recording work is done to support research needs, to preserve valuable audio artifacts at risk of loss by aging or damage, and for all such requests that can be accommodated by the staff and schedule. The Belfer Laboratory is one of the few facilities in the country, and the only one in the Syracuse area, with the requisite equipment and expertise to do preservation work with most audio legacy formats, including all sizes of cylinder and disc, wire, and tape.

Requests for re-recording and preservation work from individuals outside of the University, or from those inside the University needing assistance with personally owned materials, will be considered on a fee-based, time-available basis. All re-recording work is done in accordance with U.S. Copyright Law and SU Library policy.

For inquiries about Belfer's re-recording or preservation services as well as equipment restoration services, please contact us.
