Services

With its extensively outfitted preservation control room, the Belfer Laboratory can record and play back most audio formats. Belfer serves University faculty, students, and staff by transferring requested recordings to new media for classroom presentations and listening study. Belfer also provides fee-based re-recording services to the public on a contract basis, in accordance with U.S. copyright laws.

Staff members are available for consultation regarding the collection, care, and preservation of sound recordings. We also presently offer restoration services for vintage acoustic and electronic equipment. Please contact us for more information.

As members of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), Belfer staff network with other instititutions and individuals in the field on reference, discographic, access and technical matters.
